Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf

Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf

The old port of Tamsui was completed in 1955, and the amount of catch was huge at one time. However, the port gradually came to disuse as it was silted up. Nowadays, the breakwater of the port is still one of the favorite spots for tourists. Its location at the estuary provides the port with an excellent view. Gradually the port joined with Tamsui Lighthouse, Chunglun Sea Dike, Shihuchiao and Shalun Beach to become a series of scenery spots. In recent years, the Taipei County Government has built a wooden trail on the sea dike and expanded the parking area, wharf, tourist fish market and “Lover’s Bridge”, which helped elevate the wharf’s status as one of the most famous tourist sights in Taiwan.
