This colonial style western building was once the mansion of a local rich man Mr. Lee, who built it in the late Ching Dynasty. The Lee family sold this building to Hung Yi-nan, the street mayor of the time. Since this building overlooks Tamsui all the way from Guan Du in the east to Hai Kou in the west; therefore Mr. Hung renamed it Ta Kuan Building (building with a spectacular view). Currently the owner of the building has already renovated this 100-year-old heritage, which is opened as a restaurant and art exhibition place. It is one example of reusing of historic buildings.
